Sheriff Joe Still Defiant.

Sheriff Joe will not be deterred. Director of Homeland Security Janet "Nappy" Napolitano has decided that the anti-illegal enforcement efforts of Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio are too effective in removing criminal illegal aliens.
Arpaio first signed a 287(g) agreement in 2007 and since then dozens of agencies throughout the nation have entered into similar agreements.

Arpaio said ICE conducted an audit of his office’s use of the program, but DHS refused to release it.

Arpaio said his office managed to get a copy recently through the “back door.”

A summary of the audit said the working relationship between the sheriff’s office and ICE was good, and there were no deficiencies found after a review of case files.

“It came out perfect,” said Arpaio, citing that as the reason DHS refused to release the audit.

Coming to the sheriff's defense are Congressmen Trent Franks of Arizona and Lamar Smith of Texas.
“This unbelievable move by the Obama Administration represents a politicized attempt to hinder one of our most effective illegal immigration enforcement mechanisms, the 287(g) program."

According to them, over 33% of the inmates in Maricopa County Sheriff facilities are illegal, and more than 53% of violent crimes in Maricopa County are committed by illegal immigrants.

The fact is that the 287(g) programs works, perhaps too good for Janet (open borders) Napolitano>.

Happy Constitution Day

Today is the 222nd Anniversary of the adoption of the U.S. Constitution by the Constitutional Convention held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1787. Now more than ever our founding document is under attack from all sides. As we slip further and further from the principles expounded in this great document now is a great time to stop and reflect on the genius of our founding fathers.

The House passed a resolution of disapproval on a 240-179 vote that was mostly along party lines, reflecting the Democratic majority in the chamber. Twelve Democrats voted "no," while seven Republicans voted for the measure. Five representatives, all Democrats, voted "present."
According to the Office of the House Historian, it was the first time in its 220-year history that the House has disciplined a member for speaking out during a presidential speech in the chamber to a joint session of Congress.

Well that's OK House of Representatives, the American people have already admonished you with a 63% disapproval in the latest survey. I say GO JOE, GO.

8 Years Ago-Never Forget!

CNN- Health care reform speech.

In the President's health care reform speech on Wednesday night he attempted to dispel the many "rumors" that are challenging his quick and easy "reform" of our health care. You can watch the CNN synopsis of the speech but one thing comes to my mind as I glanced at their headline: "CNN Poll: Double-digit post-speech jump for Obama plan". They claim that 2 out of 3 Americans who watched the speech favor his health care plans-a 14 point gain among speech-watchers. That's great however in the last paragraph of the article they state: "The sample of speech-watchers in this poll was 45 percent Democratic and 18 percent Republican. Our best estimate of the number of Democrats in the voting age population as a whole indicates that the sample is about 8-10 points more Democratic than the population as a whole." They also state that there is a survey sampling error of plus or minus 5 percentage points which means that combined with the 8-10 demographic skew perhaps no one changed their mind.
Chalk up another one for the Cable Nutjob Network.

Remember back a few months ago when members of Congress were chastising the big 3 auto executives for arriving at the congressional hearings in private jets? Well it appears that they personally consider themselves above the common CEOs. They have recently approved nearly $200 million for the Air Force to buy three elite Gulfstream jets for ferrying top government officials and members of Congress.

The Air Force had asked for one Gulfstream 550 jet (price tag: about $65 million) as part of an ongoing upgrade of its passenger air service.

But the House Appropriations Committee, at its own initiative, added to the 2010 Defense appropriations bill another $132 million for two more airplanes and specified that they be assigned to the D.C.-area units that carry Members of Congress, military brass and top government officials.

The Gulfstream G550 is a luxury business jet, which the company advertises as featuring long-range flight capacity that “easily links Washington, D.C., with Dubai, London with Singapore and Tokyo with Paris.” The company’s promotional materials say, “The cabin aboard the G550 combines productivity with exceptional comfort. It features up to four distinct living areas, three temperature zones, a choice of 12 floor plan configurations with seating for up to 18 passengers.”

Steve Ellis, vice president of Taxpayers for Common Sense, said if Congress wants to buy new jets for the comfort of top government officials, “I think that all needs to be justified on the merits. ... Certainly, lawmakers can fly — and many do fly — coach and business class.” While there may be reasons for flying on top-notch private jets, “it shouldn’t just be squeezed into the bill.”

Ellis said the airplanes are also part of a larger trend for the Appropriations Committee to simply decide that big-ticket items are program increases, not earmarks, so they require less public disclosure.

“The more that you push for transparency, the more of this stuff goes underneath the carpet,” Ellis said. While Congress has established new rules requiring greater transparency for earmarks, the Appropriations Committee is “the judge, jury and executioner over what is an earmark and what isn’t and how much information we get.”

FSB reports contained in these files further state that the over $18 Billion in gold and US Dollars transferred to Obama’s personal account in October, 2008, was the “crucial factor” in his winning the American Presidential contest as it was used to payoff the Bush-Cheney Drug Cartel who in turn allowed the “electronic” US election to swing in his, Obama’s, favor.

It is interesting to note about this vast fortune that Iran’s Central Bank is now openly questioning the transfer of the estimated $18.5 Billion ($7.5 billion in cash and 20 metric tons of gold) from their Nation to Turkey by Iranian arms dealer, Esmael Safarian-Nasab, and who, Russian Intelligence reports state, was the “facilitator” of the “arms for hostages” deal between the United States and Iran who met with former US President George Bush upon his secret arrival in the Persian Nation prior to President Ronald Reagan’s election and is known as the “October Surprise”.

If you think that a hands free set is the safe way to go, think again. In a letter to then commissioner Norman Mineta the board stated: "A significant body of research worldwide indicates that both hand-held and hands-free cell phones increase the risk of a crash. Indeed, research has demonstrated that there is little, if any, difference between the use of hand-held phones in contributing to the risk of driving while distracted."

Why do you think that the information was suppressed for 6 years? My guess is that no one in the government has the balls to tell the public to give up their obsession with being in contact every minute of the day. What do you think?

The Government's drug rationing watchdog says "therapeutic" injections of steroids, such as cortisone, which are used to reduce inflammation, should no longer be offered to patients suffering from persistent lower back pain when the cause is not known.

The NHS currently issues more than 60,000 treatments of steroid injections every year. NICE said in its guidance it wants to cut this to just 3,000 treatments a year, a move which would save the NHS £33 million.

Instead the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is ordering doctors to offer patients remedies like acupuncture and osteopathy.

Dr Jonathan Richardson, a consultant pain specialist from Bradford Hospitals Trust, is among more than 50 medics who have written to NICE urging the body to reconsider its decision, which was taken in May.

He said: "The consequences of the NICE decision will be devastating for thousands of patients. It will mean more people on opiates, which are addictive, and kill 2,000 a year. It will mean more people having spinal surgery, which is incredibly risky, and has a 50 per cent failure rate."

Iris Watkins, 80 from Appleton, in Cheshire said her life had been "transformed" by the use of therapeutic injections every two years. The pensioner began to suffer back pain in her 70s. Four years ago, despite physiotherapy treatment and the use of medication, she had reached a stage where she could barely walk.

"It was horrendous, I was spending hours lying on the sofa, or in bed, I couldn't spend a whole evening out. I was referred to a specialist, who decided to give me a set of injections. The difference was tremendous",

Within days, she was able to return to her old life, gardening, caring for her husband Herbert, and enjoying social occasions.

It's pretty good pay though $75 dollars for 2 hours of discussion.
Seems to me that they could find people interested in the health care discussion for nothing.
Of course everyone knows that smart Latino women have better judgment.

I find that I often disagree with the opinions that come out of the 9th. Circus Court of Appeals but on this one we can agree:
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ―

A Syrian citizen lost a bid to a federal appeals court in San Francisco Friday to get back $40,000 he paid to an undercover agent for four forged green cards in 2005.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Abdul Masih Kardoh was not entitled to have the government return his money because he paid it in an illegal transaction.


Kardoh was then arrested, but was never prosecuted and was deported to Syria two months later.

He claimed he should get his money back because he was never convicted of a crime.

A trial judge, Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker of San Francisco, agreed and ordered the government to return the money.

But a three-judge appeals panel overturned that ruling, saying the money was forfeited under a longstanding legal doctrine in which a person who delivers a payment under an illegal contract isn't entitled to recover that money.

My question is why wasn't Mr. Kardoh tried for the act of purchasing false ID? It seems like a pretty simple case to me!

Throwing orange peels, coffee grounds and grease-stained pizza boxes in the trash will be against the law in San Francisco, and could even lead to a fine.

The Board of Supervisors voted 9-2 Tuesday to approve Mayor Gavin Newsom's proposal for the most comprehensive mandatory composting and recycling law in the country. It's an aggressive push to cut greenhouse gas emissions and have the city sending nothing to landfills or incinerators by 2020.

The ordinance calls for garbage collectors to leave tags on containers when they spot incorrectly sorted material, but those collectors are only going to view what's on top of the container and have no intention of going through them, said Robert Reed, a spokesman for San Francisco collectors Sunset Scavenger Co. and Golden Gate Disposal & Recycling Co., subsidiaries of Recology, formerly Norcal Waste Systems.

"Our role is to pick up the garbage and to make recycling as easy and convenient as possible for our customers," Reed said. "Our collection drivers will not become enforcers."

The rationale behind the move is clear. Material like food scraps and plant clippings that go into landfills take up costly space and decompose to form methane, a greenhouse gas 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

Let me get this right. Garbage collectors will tag containers with incorrectly sorted material but will not be enforcers. Right!

O.K. so this is the editor of Newsweek, Evan Thomas, who when talking to Chris Matthews on Hardball seems to have a great big "Man Crush" on President Obama. Here he is declaring on MSNBC: "I mean in a way Obama's standing above the country, above- above the world, he's sort of God."
