For The Second Year In A Row-Ron Paul Wins CPAC Straw Vote.

For the second successive year, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas won the presidential straw poll conducted at the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC, capturing 30 percent of the vote.

Former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts was second in the straw poll with 23 percent of the vote, Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio announced at the conference in Washington held by the American Conservative Union. The others on the ballot finished far behind.

The straw poll covers more than preference for president. It also asks questions about issues. Fabrizio said the No. 1 concern of participants in the straw poll was " the size of government and the role government has in your life."

One question asked participants to choose among three statements to represent their "core beliefs and ideology."

Eighty-four percent chose "My most important goal is to promote individual freedom by reducing the size and scope of government and its intrusion into the lives of citizens."

Nine percent selected "My most important goal is to promote traditional values by protecting traditional marriage and protecting the life of the unborn."

And 6 percent chose "My most important goal is to secure and guarantee American safety at home and abroad regardless of the cost or the size of government."

Merkley's attempt to sabotage Ron Paul

I was wondering how the powers that be would attempt to derail Ron Paul's HR1207 bill to audit the Fed. Ron Paul's bill has 303 cosponsors in the House and 30 in the Senate as of October 21st. So how do you buck that sentiment and still look like you support transparency? Well it appears that one way is you get a couple of shills to offer up a HR21207 Lite bill that looks good on the surface but takes the teeth out of Ron Paul's bill. They found help in none other than our very own freshman Senator Jeff Merkley and Republican Bob Corker. Their bill known as the Federal Reserve Government Accountability Act.

According to Judge Andrew Napolitano the bill waters down Rep. Paul original intentions. It omits important areas of the Feds behavior, and actually whites out proper names of banks and other individuals. That information would be made available one year after each program is no longer used.
This watered down bill is an attempt to have an audit "without inappropriately compromising the independence of the Fed or politicizing its role in crafting monetary policy". Am I wrong, isn't Congress supposed to set monetary policy?

Under pressure from congress to disclose where the TARP money went the Fed said that they are "giving serious consideration" to releasing the names of firms that receive loans from the central bank. How generous of them!

What more can you ask for?

Dr. Ron Paul has the endorsement of Arlo Guthrie!

Rep. Ron Paul wins the Rodney Dangerfield award for getting no respect from the MSM.
Once again he outshined the rest of the field in the latest debate according to the unscientific poll conducted by ABC on August 6th.
Paul gathered 28,007 votes. The next closest vote getter was Mitt Romney with 3,724 and Rudy Giuliani with 2,840. Yeah that's right almost 10 times votes for Giuliani.
ABC's post debate Internet survey after the first debate sponsored by MSNBC showed Ron Paul had 9,400 of the 11,000 votes cast with Giuliani, the next ranked candidate barely gathering 150 votes.
How long can they keep ignoring the obvious?
