Boondoggle in the Motor City: Detroit's Train to Nowhere

$500 million for a light rail train to nowhere. This is the stimulus. This is the infrastructure rebuild. This is what hope and change really looks like.

yes... yes... yes! That's the answer to everything... more public transportation.

Yeah right!

lets compare it to what I can locally relate to.

currently, I can leave from home (on my own schedule) and arrive at work in another city in under 15 minutes. Conversely, I can leave work (on my own schedule) and arrive home in under 15 minutes.

If I take the bus... I have to brave the weather for at least five blocks, wait 10 to 15 minutes for the bus to come, transfers who knows how many times, and arrive at my final destination roughly about an hour after I left home.

So being that time = money... which is the better value?

Also, when these government officials who are pushing public transit start using public transit as their main form of transportation, then maybe I might reconsider my option.

Oh yes, one other point... safety.

Especially depending on the time of day, I still 100% more safe in my car and standing on a street corner waiting for a bus.

I get off work at 1:00 am. I would have to wait about 7 hours for a bus home. The bus works great for Duck football and basketball games though.
