I agree with (1) and (7)

As far as (2) goes, I think that anyone found to be hiring illegal aliens and NOT paying them the same they would a citizen, and in anyway using the status of the employee as a means to get them to work in conditions which would not be allowed for a citizen, should be fined that amount (or more).

I do NOT agree with (3), because I know that the ONLY thing most US citizens did to earn their own citizenship was to be born on US soil. However, I don't think that having a baby here, entitles the parents to any citizenship rights.

If we implement (5) perhaps we should take away the tax exempt status of ALL houses of worship.
Telling a church to go against what it believes is correct usually doesn't work. Religious beliefs are usually much stronger than national loyalty.

I have a belief in following the law UNLESS The law goes against some higher belief of mine (right versus wrong). This doesn't mean I am against OTHERS being legally allowed to do something I find morally wrong (as long as there is not a victim); but I will not follow any law which requires me to go against some higher value of my own.
I have issues with (8).

If I am friends with someone who is here illegally; and I help them, do I deserve to be punished?

Most of this works really well for me. In particular, item #5, regarding "sanctuary houses of worship" strikes home because of the Islamonuts using their mosques to conceal bomb-assembly operations.

A house of worship is one thing. Using that status to harbor illegal activity is quite another.

Max,
I agree the making of weapons is an issue, but then I guess my "Morality over Legality" doesn't interfere with my thought here.

Churches have often been a sanctuary for the oppressed, and to punish this behavior bothers me.
People who feel they should help others and who feel this is what God wants them to do should not be punished for doing so.

However, maybe those using churches to build weapons feel their God wants them to do this also.

Now I have myself confused over right and wrong. I should quit typing before I get even more confused.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I understand your concern for illegals being abused but they do not belong here. The very fact that they can be paid less and mistreated is the reason there is not more mainstream objection to the open border. Often they are not paid less than citizens because their willing to work for less drives down wages of all workers. If you don't like it you can be easily replaced. When employers cry that they can't find people willing to do the work they offer it is because they don't offer high enough wages.
On no. 3-I couldn't disagree with you more. Your position sounds like the spoiled child who tells their parents, "I didn't ask to be born". How can you ignore the sacrifices of your parents and all those Americans that made it possible for you to be an American citizen? You owe it to all those who bore the burden of making this country the greatest country on Earth that can offer what these immigrants want to cherish that citizenship.
On no.5- churches are not above the law. If they know that they are harboring someone who broke the law then they are morally obligated to to assist them to obey the law even if that means return them to their own country. If as Max says, a Mosque is harboring someone they know exploded a bomb here should they be allowed to offer sanctuary to him because they believe he was justified in killing infidels? This move by the "sanctuary" churches is nothing more than a publicity stunt. What are they going to do house millions of illegals that can't go outside, can't go to school, can't work? Sounds like prison to me.
On no. 8-yeah sounds a bit strict to me especially on the personal level. But if you are a charity that caters to helping people break the law then yes you should be punished.

Coboble- this issue is not nearly as black and white (no pun intended) as it often is argued. Because I am against open borders, I am often accused of being a racist and a xenophobe with no heart. I realize that most of those coming here are just trying to better their life, a life that was often made unbearable by the situations created by greedy U.S. companies and corrupt local governments but coming here only allows those companies and governments to further exploit these people rather than deal with the problem. There is no reason that Mexico with all the resources and land that they have can not provide for their own people other than corruption and greed of a few.
Also, if we allow such large numbers to come here and not assimilate it drastically changes our culture. Our culture is what attracts them here. Millions are not flooding into Mexico to take advantage of what they offer.
